OWERRI WEST EMBRACES DR. CHIMA AMADI'S MESSAGE OF HOPE, DEVELOPMENT AND POLITICAL REBIRTH

As political consultations continue ahead of the forthcoming elections, the Senatorial Candidate of the Action People's Party (APP) for Owerri Zone, Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, has intensified grassroots engagements across communities in Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, carrying a message centred on development, education, good governance, and the need for citizens to take ownership of their political future.

The consultation tour commenced at Development Primary School in Umuokpo Autonomous Community, where Dr Amadi met with community members, party supporters, teachers, and pupils. Speaking at the gathering, Hon. Henry Onwukwe urged residents to rally behind Dr Amadi and the APP, stressing that the forthcoming Senate election would provide an opportunity for the people to chart a new political course. He reminded the people of the importance of safeguarding their votes and remaining committed to the democratic process.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Amadi noted that he needed little introduction, having maintained a longstanding relationship with the community through years of interaction and support. He introduced other APP candidates and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people. His visit also extended to the pupils and staff of Development Primary School, where he spoke passionately about the future of education and the welfare of children. In a move that drew applause from those present, he donated ₦500,000 to support the provision of school uniforms for the pupils, emphasising that every child deserves to learn in dignity and confidence. He assured the children and their teachers that better days lie ahead and that a new chapter of opportunities awaits them.

The consultation train then moved to Emeabiam, where another large gathering of residents received the APP candidate. Hon. Onwukwe informed the community that Dr Amadi had come to formally present himself as both the APP senatorial candidate and the party's governorship flag bearer. He expressed confidence that the people would stand firmly behind him at the polls.

In his remarks, Dr Amadi reflected on his previous visit to the community, noting that at the time he had not yet aligned with any political platform. He stated that he had now chosen the APP as the vehicle for pursuing his vision for Imo State and urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), describing them as the most powerful instrument for achieving meaningful change. To further support the community, he donated ₦2 million to be shared among members.

At Olokwu Umuso, also in Owerri West, Dr Amadi continued his advocacy for a people-centred government. He spoke extensively about the need for leadership that understands the daily struggles of ordinary citizens and remains responsive to their needs. According to him, effective governance begins with empathy and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of the people. Drawing from his personal experiences and interactions across the state, he said he understands many of the challenges confronting families and communities and urged residents to support his mission to reposition Imo State.

The visit to Eziokele Autonomous Community in Eziobodo further highlighted Dr Amadi's focus on education. Speaking before community members, he lamented the decline of public education and argued that years of neglect by successive governments have weakened confidence in public schools. He noted that many parents now feel compelled to send their children to costly private schools despite severe economic difficulties. Describing education as the foundation of societal progress, Dr Amadi announced a donation of ₦10 million towards the completion of a school building project within the community. He also provided an additional ₦3 million for community members, reaffirming his belief that investments in education and people development remain essential to long-term growth.

The final stop of the consultation tour was the Okolochi Autonomous Community, where residents gathered to receive the APP candidate. Hon. Onwukwe told the people that Dr Amadi was already well known to them as a son of the soil and had come primarily to identify the political platform under which he would be contesting. He described the senatorial contest as part of a broader political journey aimed at bringing transformative leadership to Imo State.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Amadi challenged residents to critically assess the benefits they have received from decades of electoral participation since independence. He argued that despite repeated elections, many communities continue to lack quality schools, functional healthcare facilities, and other basic infrastructure. He urged the people not to be swayed by temporary inducements during election periods but to focus instead on leaders with the capacity and commitment to deliver lasting development.

According to him, genuine progress can only be achieved when citizens prioritise competence, vision, and accountability over short-term political incentives. He assured the people that if they join him on the journey toward rebuilding Imo State, they would have every reason to be proud of their decision.

Throughout the consultation tour, a recurring theme emerged from Dr Amadi's engagements: the belief that the future of Imo State lies in investing in education, empowering communities, promoting accountable leadership, and ensuring that government remains responsive to the needs of the people.
