MAZI GBURUGBURU CONTINUES GRASSROOTS CONSULTATIONS, RALLIES SUPPORT ACROSS NGOR OKPALA AND MBAISE

Warm Reception as Dr Chima Amadi Visits Hon. Mathew Nwogu

The consultation tour of Dr Chima Matthew Amadi, popularly known as Mazi Gburugburu, continued with a courtesy visit to Hon. Mathew Nwogu, the member representing Aboh Mbaise/Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency in the National Assembly. Party faithful, ward leaders, women groups, and supporters gathered in large numbers to receive the APP chieftain.

In line with Igbo tradition, kola nuts were presented to Dr Chima Amadi and his entourage. Hon. Nwogu blessed the kola nuts and prayed for the success of the Action Peoples Party (APP) in the forthcoming elections. Women at the gathering also entertained guests with songs of praise in honour of Dr Amadi.

Hon. Nwogu Speaks on Unity, Collaboration, and Political Direction

Speaking during the meeting, Hon. Nwogu explained that the gathering had earlier been scheduled for the previous day but was postponed due to another engagement. He appreciated those who waited patiently for the meeting and stressed that collaboration and unity within the party would lead APP to victory in both the senatorial and governorship elections.

He narrated his political journey from the Labour Party to the Action Peoples Party, explaining that although he has no intention of reducing the influence Peter Obi has had on his political journey, he has eventually found in Dr Chima Amadi someone he described as even more popular within his constituency. He expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious by the grace of God.

Hon. Nwogu further urged party members to remain committed by mobilising support, protecting votes, and bringing more people into the APP, assuring them that those who work for the movement would always be remembered.

“Mbaise and Ngor Okpala Are One Family” — Dr Chima Amadi

While addressing the gathering, Dr Chima Amadi apologised for arriving late and expressed happiness at seeing APP executives from Mbaise in attendance. He questioned whether there was truly any difference between Mbaise and Ngor Okpala people, to which the crowd responded that both communities are siblings.

Dr Amadi went on to share aspects of his family history that connected both communities, dating back over a century. He warned against politicians who attempt to divide the people for selfish political gains.

He explained that leadership should not discriminate based on origin, recalling how he once built a house for a woman he met at the market without first asking where she came from. According to him, governance under his leadership would focus on humanity and the welfare of the people rather than tribal considerations.

Call for a “Revolution at the Ballot”

Dr Amadi stated that if he must ever be rejected politically, it should be because people believe he lacks capacity and not because of where he comes from. He called on the people to focus on competence, intelligence, and vision during the elections.

He lamented the poor condition of governance in Imo State, insisting that public resources meant for development have been mismanaged. According to him, even if half of the state’s resources were properly utilised, Imo State would witness a significant transformation.

“What we want is for Imo to experience what others are experiencing in terms of good governance,” he stated.

Massive Support as Campaign Train Moves to Elelem/Obike Ward 2

After the meeting with Hon. Nwogu, Dr Chima Amadi proceeded to Elelem/Obike Ward 2 in Ngor Okpala, where he was welcomed with songs, cheers, and excitement from supporters.

Following the opening prayer, the Ward Chairman, Mr Okafor, presented kola nuts to Dr Amadi and his entourage, while Hon. Henry Onwukwe, the Director General of TMO, performed the traditional presentation rites.

Mr Mathew Nworgu also spoke at the gathering, highlighting the support and goodwill he had received from Dr Chima Amadi over the years. He noted that he did not hesitate before joining Dr Amadi in the APP.

Dr Amadi Condemns Rising Insecurity and Collapse of Public Education

Addressing supporters at Ward 2, Dr Amadi thanked the people for their steadfastness, recalling how they waited for him under heavy rainfall during a previous visit.

He criticised the worsening insecurity situation in Imo State, referencing concerns raised by residents of Eziobodo who reportedly fear travelling home even as early as 6 p.m. because of insecurity in their communities.

Dr Amadi also lamented the decline of public education, stating that many families now struggle financially because public schools have deteriorated to the point where parents no longer see value in enrolling their children there.

He reflected on how he benefited from quality public education in the past and expressed concern that some schools now reportedly operate with only one teacher.

“Empowerment Is More Than Sharing Wheelbarrows”

Dr Amadi promised that under his leadership, education, housing, and infrastructure would receive major attention and improvement.

He criticised the style of empowerment politics practised by many politicians, arguing that true empowerment should go beyond sharing wheelbarrows, sewing machines, and similar items.

According to him, his administration would establish microfinance banks across autonomous communities where traders and small business owners could access zero-interest loans to expand their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

He also encouraged young people who recently turned 18 and those without voter cards to register ahead of the elections, insisting that the movement is about competence and not party affiliation alone.

He went further to present monetary gifts to all the people present as a gesture of appreciation.

Final Stop at APP Women Leaders’ Residence

The consultation tour ended at the residence of the APP Women Leader, Lady Stella Chukwu, where Dr Chima Amadi was again welcomed by a large crowd with songs and excitement.

While addressing supporters there, he pointed to the deplorable state of the road leading into the community despite the huge sums allegedly allocated for the project. He described the situation as evidence of failed leadership and mismanagement of public resources.

According to him, Imo State’s problems persist because people without compassion for the masses have been entrusted with power.

He thanked the people for their support and presented monetary gifts as a gesture of appreciation and solidarity.
